After the vasectomy, some active sperm may still be present, and it takes about three months for complete healing. A post-vasectomy semen analysis after three months is necessary to confirm sterility. Until then, alternative contraception methods should be used.
Once you feel comfortable, typically after seven days, you can resume sexual activity. However, it’s crucial to use alternative birth control until sterility is confirmed through semen analysis.
Vasectomy is considered safe by medical experts, with the risk of serious problems being uncommon. As with any surgery, there are some inherent risks, such as bleeding and infection.
Studies suggest that open-ended vasectomy, leaving the end from the testicle open, might offer benefits such as reduced post-operative discomfort and potential ease of performing vasectomy reversal if desired in the future.
While No-Scalpel Vasectomy can be reversed, reversal operations are costly and not always successful. Considering pre-vasectomy sperm banking (cryopreservation) is recommended for those contemplating vasectomy.
On average, the entire No-Scalpel Vasectomy procedure takes less than 15 minutes. Performed in office, it’s a simple and efficient procedure.
Following the No-Scalpel Vasectomy, you may experience mild soreness for a few days.
The short procedure is virtually painless once the anesthesia takes effect. You might experience only a brief moment of discomfort during the application of the anesthetic.
After the vasectomy, it is advised to refrain from physical activity for one week (7 days). If you have a sedentary job, you can return the next day, while those with physically demanding jobs should take a week off. Not following these recommendations may increase the risk of complications.
Vasectomy will not affect your masculinity or sexual functions. It solely prevents pregnancy while preserving hormone levels, semen volume, and sexual performance. Some men find sex more relaxed and enjoyable without the worry of accidental pregnancy.
The area should be shaved for better visibility and hygienic reasons during the meticulous surgery.
