ALLERGY CLINIC CALGARY

Calgary Allergist Consultations

As a trusted medical specialty clinic, our Peak Calgary allergist (or immunologist) will provide you with high quality care, so when you leave our office, you will have a better understanding of your allergies and can work towards improving your quality of life.

Allergies begin with exposure to an allergen or contaminant that the body flags as an invader. Allergens could come from the environmental or food substances that had been previously tolerated but, during a particular exposure are flagged by the immune system as a threat. This response leads the body to develop antibodies for otherwise harmless substances, causing your body to have an allergic reaction with subsequent exposures.

If you or a loved one believe you have an allergy, ask your family doctor about being referred to our clinic today.

If you suspect you have allergies, you are a part of the 30% of Canadians who suffer from some type of allergy.

Allergies tends to be hereditary. While specific allergies are not inherited, a tendency toward having allergies is. A family history of atopy (a genetic tendency to develop allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis, asthma and eczema) can make children more susceptible to developing allergies. It is both possible to outgrow and acquire an allergy at various points in one’s lifetime with allergies most frequently appearing in children after the age of 5 and rarely after the age of 60.

No age is considered too young if a child is exhibiting symptoms of allergy. It is not generally practiced however, to test for allergens in which there have been no exposure yet.
